Betsy Harper over at Sales and Marketing Search recently offered some additional insights about this process of hiring the right people by getting behind "the label" (resume) to understand what the candidate really has to offer your company:
1. Ask for an explanation of the process by which the candidate did whatever he/she claims to have done. Your goal is to figure out whether the candidate was the driver, a ride-along, or a bystander.
2. Get to the essence. You want to know who they really are - how do they think, what makes them tick, etc.
